Two Injured in ATV-car crash in West Virginia

In West Virginia, it is not uncommon to see more than just automobile traveling on or near the roadways. Many residents enjoy riding dirt bikes, motorcycles and ATVs throughout the state. While these vehicles are a great way to enjoy the outdoors, there are some risks associated with them. Smaller vehicles traveling on roads in residential areas are not always expected or seen. If a negligent driver fails to use caution around these vehicles, a serious and even fatal car accident could ensue.

This is what happened recently in Eastern Kanawha County. According to authorities, anATV-car crash occurred when a car collided with an ATV. The crash occurred on Point Lick Drive off of Campbells Creek Drive around 10:30 p.m.

Preliminary reports indicated that emergency crews transported two victims to the hospital for medical treatment. It is not clear at this time if both victims were on the ATV or not. Additionally, the status and the severity of the injuries suffered were not released at this time.

Investigation is still ongoing for this car accident. Once completed, authorities should be able to determine the cause of the crash. If negligence was involved and a driver failed to driver safely around the ATV, liability could be placed on the driver of the automobile. Investigators will also have to determine whether the ATV was traveling in an area they are allowed to and whether they took reasonable caution while they were riding the ATV. This could help assess contributory negligence as well.

When a negligent driver causes a crash, those harmed may have recourses. A personal injury claim could help an injured victim recover compensation, helping them offset any financial hardships and damages caused by the incident.
