Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer that is caused by exposure to asbestos.
Asbestos is the name given to six fibrous minerals used to resist heat and chemicals:

These asbestos minerals have been used in a variety of products, including insulation, building materials and vehicle brakes.
Throughout Ohio, mesothelioma and other illnesses related to asbestos exposure have destroyed the lives of those who have been exposed and their families. Difficult and draining medical treatments and even death may lie ahead. A mesothelioma diagnosis is physically, emotionally and financially devastating.
If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with mesothelioma, contact mesothelioma lawyers who can make those responsible accountable for their actions. While legal recourse cannot reverse a medical situation, it can bring some peace of mind and financial recovery.

Who Is At Risk For Asbestos Exposure And Mesothelioma?
Exposure to asbestos can lead to the development of mesothelioma.
Federal regulations are in place to restrict use of asbestos. The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) set restrictions in Section 5(a)(1) of the OSH Act requiring employers to provide a workplace environment "free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm."
However, you may have been exposed before the federal government enacted these laws. Symptoms of mesothelioma often do not appear until years or even decades after exposure.
Some industries and job situations put workers at greater risk of asbestos exposure, including:
- Workers at factories, chemical plants, power houses, construction sites, mines and mills
- Contractors who work with insulation and asbestos textiles
- Brake specialists
- Building renovators and demolition specialists
- Firefighters and emergency workers
- Railway workers
And risk is not limited to these sites. Even schools and homes can jeopardize the lives of children and adults, as can living near a plant or other facility where asbestos is used, or washing the clothes of someone who worked with asbestos.
