JIM HUMPHREYS: Welcome to the asbestos and mesothelioma page of the James F. Humphreys & Associates website. I'm Jim Humphreys. And I've represented the victims of asbestos disease for more than 15 years. We've helped families who have been devastated by the deadly effects of asbestos exposure. Asbestos causes mesothelioma, lung cancer, asbestosis, which is the destruction of the lung, and plaques or calcifications on or surrounding the lung as well as other forms of cancer.

Many of our clients have suffered from the disease mesothelioma, which is a rare and deadly form of cancer of the lining of the lung caused by asbestos. Asbestos is found in a number of commercial products. It was used in pipe and boiler insulation, brake linings, joint compounds, sheet rock, protective clothing, floor and ceiling tile, and many other products that may still be in use today. The dust from asbestos, even at low and visible levels, can cause diseases like mesothelioma or asbestosis.

People who have worked a summer job using asbestos products, even spouses and the children of workers exposed to asbestos have been known to develop the diseases. Most asbestos-related diseases take at least ten years from first exposure to develop. Mesothelioma, a horrible disease that leaves little hope for the future of its victims is inevitably fatal.
